Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Dr. Rachael Levine said in a news conference today that she is concerned about restaurants, bars and other businesses being open before January 4th, which is when the indoor dining ban will be lifted.
As was reported on Sunday, 40 bars and restaurants, including two locations in Indiana County and one in Armstrong County, were ordered to close for violating Governor Wolf’s indoor dining ban. Levine said that she was worried for the health of those who were patronizing or working for establishments that were open for indoor dining against the Governor’s orders.
Levine was also asked if the state had any plans to lift the ban prior to January 4th. She said that there were no plans to lift the ban early for New Year’s gatherings to take place.
Levine also talked about the distribution of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine, which is now headed to skilled nursing facilities as part of Operation Warp Speed from the federal government. A new dashboard to track the distribution of the vaccines to nursing homes will be posted to the PA Department of Health as soon as tomorrow.
