Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate continues to head back down toward pre-pandemic levels.
The PA Department of Labor and Industry announced the state’s unemployment rate went down eight-tenths of a point to 6.6 percent in the month of November. This is the first time since May of 2015 that the statewide unemployment rate went below the U.S. unemployment rate, which was 6.7 in November.
The state civilian labor force, which is the estimated number of residents working or looking for work, went down by 40,000 over the month to 6,330,000 people. The total of non-farm jobs across the state went up by 21,000 to 5,637,600 jobs. That marks the seventh consecutive month that jobs went up. Jobs increased in seven of the 11 industry super-sectors, with the biggest gains in the trade, transportation and utilities super-sector. They saw a 10,000 job increase in November.
Indiana County’s unemployment rate for November will be announced later this month.
