As the snowstorm came through the area, first responders were out helping people at accident scenes.
Four vehicle crashes were reported during yesterday’s snow storm that dumped in some areas of Indiana County more than a foot of snow.
The first call was reported at 12:56 PM on Fire Academy Road in Center Township. Homer City and Coral-Graceton Fire Departments were dispatched at that time, along with state police and Citizens Ambulance. A little more than two hours later, another accident was reported on Hanging Rock Road in Washington Township. Creekside and Plumville fire departments were dispatched along with State Police and Citizens Ambulance. Plumville would be called out again about 45 minutes later for a crash on Rossmoyne Road in South Mahoning Township. Plumville would be assisted by crews from Marion Center Fire Department, who said that one vehicle was overturned in the accident.
At 5:05 PM, Armagh/East Wheatfield and Clyde fire departments, Citizens and State Police were called out for a crash on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township.
The traffic problems did not end there, as PennDOT reported a closure of Route 119 last night at 6:32 PM. The road was closed in both directions near the intersection of Beaver Drive in North Mahoning Township due to several commercial vehicles getting stuck. The road reopened last night and PA 511 says there are no traffic problems this morning, but please be careful and take some extra time as secondary roads may not have been treated or plowed as of yet.
