Two of Indiana County’s school districts are reporting new positive coronavirus tests, and a third district has decided to switch to all-remote learning starting next Monday.
Indiana Area has announced two new positives, one at Horace Mann Elementary and the other at the Junior High School. Under the rolling 14-day county cycle, those are the first two cases, so the schools are able to remain open. All told, Indiana Area has one active case at each of those two schools and one at the Senior High.
Penns Manor reported another positive coronavirus test result yesterday, involving an employee at the elementary school who was last in the building last Thursday. The employee has had no contact with anyone else in the school community. The school remains open.
The United School District, which has canceled classes today because of the snowstorm, says that after careful consideration, it will move to remote instruction beginning on Monday and lasting until the return from the holiday break, on January 4th. Faculty and staff will be in the school buildings and available if students need assistance with their assignments.
