The first domino in the Pirates trading block fell earlier today, as they shipped speedy outfielder Jarrod Dyson to the Chicago White Sox.
It was reported by MLB Insider Jeff Passan on Twitter shortly before 10 this morning, and the White Sox are expected to give international money to the Pirates in the exchange.
Dyson was signed to a one-year deal to replace former center fielder, Starling Marte, after the team traded him to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the offseason. Dyson hit .157 with 5 RBIs and 4 stolen bases for the Pirates in his brief 21-game stint with the team.
This trade leaves room for the Pirates to potentially bring up OF Jason Martin or Jared Oliva, who is the 10th top prospect in the Pirates’ organization, or utilize newly-acquired Anthony Alford, who the Bucs claimed off waivers from the Blue Jays yesterday.
