The Pirates visit the Windy City today, but not to face the Cubs on the North Side.
The Pirates may be talking trade with the Toronto Blue Jays. Sources tell Jon Morosi of MLB.com that the Jays are interested in right-handers Trevor Williams and Chad Kuhl. Pirates GM Ben Cherington came to Pittsburgh from the Toronto front office. The Jays are without three of their starting pitchers and are in urgent need of help in their rotation. The trade deadline is next Monday.
The Pirates have claimed right-handed pitcher Carson Fulmer off waivers from the Tigers, and designated outfielder Guillermo Heredia for assignment. Fulmer was the 8th overall pick by the White Sox in the 2015 draft. He gave up five earned runs this year in 6-and-two-thirds innings for Detroit.
