The Pirates will play host in their final tune up before the abbreviated regular season kicks off on Friday. The Bucs will welcome the Cleveland Indians to PNC Park (7:00 airtime on WCCS). Left-hander Derek Holland will start on the mound for the Bucs.
Joe Musgrove will be on the hill Friday night for the opener in St. Louis. Trevor Williams will start Saturday, and manager Derek Shelton announced yesterday that Mitch Keller will start on Sunday. Keller threw five innings, giving up two runs last night in an intra-squad game.
Third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes has begun working out with the Bucs at PNC Park. He’d been out after contracting the coronavirus.
Multiple sources in Canada are reporting today that the Toronto Blue Jays will be playing their “home” games this season at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. The plan still has to be OK’d by Pennsylvania state officials. Other sources say Baltimore is still under consideration.
The Jays are scheduled to play their first home game July 29th against Washington. The Pirates are scheduled to play host to Milwaukee that night.
