During Tuesday night’s meeting, the Indiana Borough Council approved three motions concerning the return of students to IUP campus during the Coronavirus outbreak.
The motions offered by Borough Council Vice President Gerald Smith were to actively engage in a communications strategy to safely welcome the students back to town, to bring together local stakeholders to most safely welcome the students back, and to craft and advertise a new ordinance to echo Governor Tom Wolf’s executive orders regarding Covid-19 and public safety measures. Borough Solicitor Neva Stotler said that the borough can approve the advertisement in an effort to save time in the process.
Each motion passed unanimously.
In other business, the borough approved getting in contact with White Township’s Supervisors and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources concerning the White’s Woods project. Borough Council President Peter Broad said that while they have many problems with the proposed removal of invasive plant species, they are focused on storm water runoff.
