At Wednesday afternoon’s White Township Supervisors meeting, the supervisors heard from an Appalachian Forest Consultant concerning White’s Woods.
Mike Wolf was retained by the Friends of White’s Woods and made a brief presentation concerning the health of White’s Woods, as township supervisors have focused on removing invasive plant species in the area. Wolf said that while the forest and the canopy is healthy, the forest floor is not in a healthy state.
Wolf will return for the next Township Supervisors meeting at 7:30 on July 22nd to make a full presentation of his findings. Representatives from Millstone Land Management will also be there to provide comment.
In other business, the supervisors discussed forming their own recreation committee. Township Manager Milt Lady said that it would be like the former Recreation Commission made up of the township, Indiana Borough and the Indiana School district, but would be solely for White Township. He mentioned another major difference between the former Rec Commission and what the committee could oversee.
Lady also gave an update on the Green Light Go project. The new traffic signals installed at Warren Road, Ben Franklin Road and Indian Springs Road intersection were installed on the new light poles and have been activated.
