New charges against a Bolivar man already awaiting drug trials in both Indiana and Westmoreland counties were held for court in Westmoreland County on Friday. His mother, who is also awaiting drug trials in Westmoreland County, is also implicated in the new case. And a woman who was involved in his Indiana County case is entangled in this one, too.
26-year-old David McGinnis of Bolivar is facing eighteen charges in two filings, including 14 felonies. Felony charges include five filings for intimidation of witnesses, a single charge of retaliation against a witness or victim, conspiracy to all of those offenses, and conspiracy to both contraband of a controlled substance and attempted contraband. His mother, Denise, is also charged with conspiracy offenses, as is his former cellmate, Joshua Petrill, and Matraca Vrana of Northern Cambria, who was part of a shooting and robbery case in Indiana County last July in which David McGinnis and Justin Libengood were involved.
McGinnis is accused of having his mother pretend to be a court official and call Petrill’s accuser to threaten criminal action against her if she testified against Petrill in a stalking case. Vrana is charged with conspiracy in that case and in a separate case with arranging with McGinnis to smuggle suboxone into the prison.
David McGinnis is scheduled for trial in both Westmoreland and Indiana counties in August.
