Thomas M. Spring, 85, Home, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 while at Communities at Indian Haven.
The son of John P. and Edith (Klingerman) Spring, he was born June 27, 1934 in Montour County, PA.
Tom was a graduate of the Public Schools of Danville and received a Bachelor’s degree from Penn State. He was employed for many years by W.H. Johns Incorporated as a manager.
Tom was a former member of the New Life Lutheran Church, Oriental Loyal Arch, and the Titusville Lodge. He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Danville, 50-year charter member of the Lions, and also served as the Marion Center Memorial Day Parade Master. Tom served as a treasurer for the Indiana County Municipal Authority and the Director of the Mahoning Medical Center Board.
Traveling was also a passion of Tom’s. He traveled the four countries of the United Kingdom, Italy and Switzerland. Tom and his wife, Sonnie, enjoyed many trips to the western National Parks and Denali National Park in Alaska. His most memorable trip was to view the magnificent polar bears on the frozen tundra of Churchill, Manitoba. Tom and Sonnie also vacationed many winters in Aruba and the Dominican Republic.
Tom and Sonnie made significant donations to the Penn State Agricultural Science Scholarship Fund. As a result of their donations, numerous students from Indiana and surrounding counties received scholarships in Agricultural Science.
Surviving is his brother, Albert (Philomena) Churm, Danville; numerous friends and neighbors whom he held dear.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra “Sonnie” Spring; and two sons, Thomas Jr. and John Russell.
A private viewing and funeral service will be held at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home.
Interment in the Grove Chapel Cemetery will be private.
