The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced plans to reopen state shooting ranges on Tuesday.
In an official press release, the Game Commission announced it will open both regional offices and shooting ranges in counties upgraded to the “Yellow-Phase” of the COVID-19 matrix on Friday.
These counties include Clearfield, Jefferson, Elk and Clarion counties, all of which neighbor Indiana County, which is still in the “Red-Phase.”
Game Commission Executive Director Bryan Burhans said the reopening of shooting ranges in yellow-phase counties is a “step toward resuming routine schedules that invariably changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Game Commission restricted access to all state game lands in late March in accordance with Gov. Wolf’s plan to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Burhans also said “we encourage everyone to continue to take precautionary measures during this time and to continue to be safe and responsible as we get through the next few weeks together.”
