The United Way of Indiana County is teaming with the county’s Health and Human Services Subcommittee and ICCAP and the Department of Human Services to raise money to support family stability during the Covid-19 crisis.
The United Way said in a news release that about 44 percent of people live at or below the minimum household survival budget, and they are expecting to see an increase of requests for assistance from people who may face lost wages due to layoffs. The money raised will support those people, and provide assistance for those seeking help with food, rent or mortgage payments, utilities, medical bills, prescriptions, childcare and other needs.
People can contribute to this emergency fund online at www.uwindianacounty.org/donate and designate the donation to the Emergency Relief Fund. Checks can also be sent to the United Way of Indiana County at 655 Church Street, Suite 114 in Indiana, with the words “Emergency Relief Fund” written in the memo line.
If you need financial assistance, the application process will start on April 13th with applications online at uwindianacounty.org or by calling ICCAP at 724-465-2657. Due to a potentially large call volume, those interested should file their applications online if possible.
