Indiana County Commissioners announced that they will pass a declaration of disaster emergency for the county in response to the current situation concerning coronavirus.
In a statement, the county says this will enhance the county’s response to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents. The declaration authorizes the temporary suspension of all formal requirements, including time-consuming procedures and formalities prescribed by law, with the exception of constitutional requirements, pertaining to the performance of public work, entering into contracts, incurring obligations, employment of temporary workers, equipment rental, purchasing supplies and materials, levying of taxes and appropriation and expenditure of public funds.
