Indiana Borough Police have released new information on Friday evening’s robbery and shooting at two homes along Wayne Avenue.
Investigators have confirmed that two residents and one visitor were inside the home at 835 Wayne Avenue when the robbery occurred. A third resident who was not home at the time is also considered a victim of theft. The thieves stole multiple cell phones, two gaming systems, a television, a laptop computer, and a wallet and its contents. Two cell phones were later recovered near the intersection of Philadelphia Street and College Lodge Road. One of the victims was struck in the head during the robbery and suffered a non-life-threatening injury.
Police say there were two residents inside the home at 841 Wayne Avenue during a second robbery attempt and one suffered a gunshot wound. It was previously reported that the wound was to his neck. He will recover. No property was stolen at the second home, and the other resident was not injured.
No identities have been released on any of the victims, and no medical conditions will be reported.
In their university-wide alert on Friday, IUP reported there were three suspects, but Borough Police have not released any information or descriptions of them, and have not said how many people they are looking for. In today’s release they add that anyone “found to have aided in the commission of these crimes, or the subsequent harboring of any suspect, or the storage of any stolen property, will be prosecuted.” They also repeated that they are willing to accept information from all sources as they work on the investigation.
The next scheduled update will be by noon on Friday.
