A former Indiana Borough police officer has been named the interim director for IUP’s department of public safety and university police.
IUP has announced that starting next Monday, Former Indiana Borough Police lieutenant Anthony Clement will start in his new position. He serves as the new interim director as the university continues a national search for a permanent director. Kevin Thelen was the prior director, and worked with the university for nearly five years.
Clement brings 35 years of experience to the table as a former Indiana Borough police officer and also served as an officer and the chief of police in Clymer. He has also been an instructor at IUP’s Criminal Justice Training Center over the last 20 years.
The public safety office is responsible for protecting the safety of the public, enforcing student behavior, parking regulations and investigating crimes that happen on IUP’s campus.
