The Indiana School Board met last night and took the next step for projects at East Pike and the high school.
The board appointed Greg Trout and Chaney Woodring as the construction managers for the East Pike Entranceway project. Superintendent Michael Vuckovich said that it was part of a project to improve security at two of the district’s elementary schools.
The other project is for the High School Life Skills chairlift. Both projects are expected to start in spring and are expected to wrap up over the summer.
In other business, the board accepted the donation of a bench from Silas Schiera, a local Boy Scout who collected plastic bags for the project. His collection boxes were set up at all the district schools as part of his Eagle Scout project. The new bench will go to the East Pike school.
The board was also introduced to the IUP ILEP/Fullbright DAI teachers visiting the district. This is the fifth year for the international teacher visits, with teachers representing Greece, Africa, India and other locations learning about teaching from Indiana School District teachers.
