Luella Ruth Gromley, 92 of Starford, PA went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the Communities at Indian Haven in Indiana, PA.
She was born March 13, 1927 in Starford, PA. She was the daughter of Harmon B. and Linnie V. Gromley.
She resided in Starford all her life and always involved herself in church and community activities.
Luella attended Green Township High School graduating in 1945 and then went to Johnstown Beauty School. In 1947 she established her Beauty Shop in Starford and worked there for many years before retiring.
She played piano for 62 years along with teaching Sunday School and belonging to the Ladies Aide Society at the Starford United Methodist Church.
Luella was also President of the Green Township School Reunion Committee for many years and cherished communicating to all her former classmates.
She was also a member of the Indiana County Republican Committee and volunteered her time at the voting polls every election. Throughout her life she never missed voting and received an honorary certificate.
Throughout her life she made many friends and will never be forgotten.
Her family meant everything to her and she will forever live in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Wendell Gromley and Kenneth Gromley both formerly of Starford and sister, Joyce Mogle, formerly of Mahaffey, PA.
She is survived by two nephews Richard Mogle (wife Diane) of Latrobe, PA and Donald Mogle (wife Deborah) of Fort Worth, Texas and two nieces, Gloria Mentch (husband William) of Erie, PA and Malinda Russo (husband Thomas) of Branchburg, New Jersey.
Also surviving are four great nieces, two great nephews and their families.
Family and friends will be received from 2-6:00 p.m. on Saturday February 8, 2020 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where a 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 with Pastor James Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Rowley Cemetery in Hillsdale, PA.
