Indiana Borough received an award for solar energy last night during the borough council’s agenda planning session.
The borough last night officially received their SolSmart silver designation yesterday during their meeting. SolSmart is a national designation program that recognizes cities, counties, and regional organizations that foster the development of local solar markets. Nicholas Zimny-Shea of the Indiana Borough Planning and Zoning Department talked about the importance of the recognition.
Indiana becomes the first Western Pennsylvania Community to receive SolSmart designation, and the third community in Pennsylvania to receive that designation.
In other business, Indiana Fire Association President Bill Simmons was in attendance and announced that the 2020 Fire Service Agreement was ready for examination. The administration committee will take a close look at the agreement at their next committee meeting.
