The Indiana County Municipal Services Authority was awarded a large grant from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority for a water line expansion project in Northern Indiana County.
The $10,775,000 PENNVEST grant will be used to expand water service along Routes 85 and 119, through the Home and Marion Center areas. The project will include 100,000 feet of waterlines, a new storage tank, meters and fire hydrants. State Senator Joe Pittman said that most significant part of the project will be the ability to provide water to the Marion Center School District.
Pittman, along with State Representatives Jim Struzzi and Cris Dush worked together on the grants. In a statement, Dush said called it a case where “PennVEST stepped up to help the community address a serious public health issue.”
PENNVEST is supported by the state’s General Fund Budget, and financing is provided through the use of federal funding and prior bond issues along with proceeds from Marcellus Shale Impact Fee Legislation.
