One of Downtown Indiana’s long-time businessmen has passed away.
Ray Stankiewicz, the former owner of the 700 Shop in Downtown Indiana, passed away last night. Stankiewicz bought the men’s clothing store, then known as Leon’s Menswear, in the late 1960s from Ruby Eddlesteien. Stankiewicz was also the owner of the 700 Shop location in Kittanning.
Josh Rosenberger would later buy the Indiana Location from Stankiewicz in 2005 after working under Stankiewicz for seven years. Rosenberger remembered that Stankiewicz was rooted in the “old school” model of retail business, which focused on the customer, and their satisfaction.
Funeral arrangements for Stankiewicz have not been released yet. We do know the Rairigh-Bence Funeral Home in Indiana is handling the arrangements. Stankiewicz passed away at the age of 82.
