Six recent alumni of IUP will return to campus today to accept the Young Alumni Achievement Award.
In a news release, IUP announced that the six recipients for this year include:
- Justin Brown, who graduated the Master’s program in 2013 from the College of Education and Communications. He went on to found the D.A.P (Diversity Awareness Program) and he also serves as their CEO. He is also the founder and president of Onward and Upward.
- Brandon Hody, who graduated in 2012 and finished his Master’s in 2015 from the College of Health and Human Services. He is now a safety and occupational health professional for Current Technologies Corporation.
- Maria McCollester, who graduated in 2007 from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. She currently is an associate political scientist for the RAND Corporation.
- Chad Nease, a 2010 Masters program graduate in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics program. He now works for Caterpillar as a senior data scientist.
- Natalie Palamedes, who was a 2012 graduate from the Fine Arts program and now works as an actor.
- Eric Palmer, who graduated in 2006 and got his masters the next year in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology. He is now the executive director of the Altoona Career and Technology Center.
The Young Alumni Achievement awards program recognizes recent graduates who have been identified as outstanding in their fields who serve as exceptional achievement to younger students. The six will have an awards luncheon and get to speak with classes throughout the day today.
