The Marion Center school board approved yearly salary rate increase plans for certain staff members and approved purchases as part of the fitness center expansion project.
The board approved a three year Administrative Compensation Plan that includes a salary increase each year. Superintendent Clint Weimer explains the conditions of the rate increases:
“The salary increases are going to be between 2.5 and 2.75 [percent] depending on performance and mastery of goals.”
Similarly, the board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the maintenance staff, which grants a yearly rate increase of 2.75% based likewise on satisfactory performance.
In other news, the board accepted quotes for new flooring in the fitness center, as well as new fitness equipment. The quotes from the Pittsburgh-based Webster Fitness Products are valued at $16,632 for the rubberized flooring and $41,055 for the equipment. Weimer specifies the equipment purchased and why it is necessary:
“Treadmills, cardio stuff. We have a couple free-weight systems because our other ones, the pulleys are worn out, like the presses and things like that, which is standard. Our equipment’s dated, it’s pushing 20 years old.”
The board also approved a list of substitutes and a list of contracted drivers.
